Afghan Web project
from the some-things-are-worth-making-mistakes-in-public dept.
[Update 04 Oct: We're in touch with a writer who lived in Kabul last year, but still welcome new leads]
Wired is collecting Web sites whose content is posted either by people living in Afghanistan, or by recent expatriates. I've started with these. Got more? Email me at boutin@wiredmag.com. I'm especially looking for pages not in English, and people who can translate them. No political agenda here other than paying more attention.
http://www.afghangovernment.org - Deposed government headed by president-in-exile Burhanuddin Rabbani, who lives in Iran now. Hackers mistook it for the Taliban's site, as did this Reuters story.
http://www.rawa.org/ - Revolutionary Association of Women of Afghanistan, maintained in Pakistan. Wired News story
http://www.afghan.gov.af - Offline. Google cache
http://www.jamiat.com - Offline. Google cache
Links from Afghanistan Online, which I'm just now starting to go through.
http://www.instecdigital.com/1/idscam.htm a webcam in Karachi, Pakistan. Karachi is on the Arabian Sea, closer to India than Afghanistan.
