Day to Day host Alex Chadwick ribs me for echoing CERT’s recommendation that people consider switching browsers: “Paul Boutin has now advised you to stop using Internet Explorer. Paul Boutin, who writes about - or perhaps formerly wrote about technology for our partners at Slate magazine.”

Euphemism of the Day comes from Apple’s page about the upcoming feature in its browser that erases all tracks of what you do with it:

Go ahead and … shop for birthday presents on the family Mac … no information about where you visit on the Web, personal information you enter or pages you visit are saved or cached.

Millions of men are surely relieved that they can now shop for birthday presents without being found out.

No NASCAR Dads at the Times?

The NY Times misquotes one of Apple’s ad slogans:

Another sign read, “Get your copiers ready,” referring to Apple’s longstanding claim that many of Windows’ best innovations were copied from the Macintosh.

The sign actually reads, “Redmond, start your photocopiers,” a pun on the traditional call that begins the Indianapolis 500 race every year, “Gentlemen, start your engines.” How did they miss that?
