You only need to send them two copies at first, after which you can enjoy the benefits of the Long Tail as a producer, rather than a consumer or distributor. I asked North Beach Copy down the street here to estimate the cost of printing those first two books from a Word or PDF file - Charlie says $20 to $50, depending on what kind of cover, paper, and binding you want.
