The Fixx on tour

Thursday, March 17th, 2005

I had a great time seeing The Fixx in a small club with Freezepop last week. Cy Curnin’s voice and stage presence are still amazing. He’s become a dapper fortysomething who jokes about his age (”You’ve had long enough to learn the words. Now the question is how long can you retain them.”) Guitarist Jamie West-Oram’s tone is 20 years more polished and detailed - I bopped in front of his amps all night. Likewise props for keyboardist Rupert Greenall, and the new drummer and bassist are super-solid. Best of all, they’re playing tiny clubs on the cheap and enjoying it. Check it out.
