American Express computer has a crush on me
Tuesday, October 31st, 2006I’ve been getting automated calls from Amex - sometimes before 8am, sometimes in the middle of the day - saying American Express needs to discuss an important issue about my account with me, and it’s not a marketing or sales call. The recording says to call Amex’ credit department - 800.592.1160 - and has a you’re-in-trouble tone to it.
The people at Amex are baffled. Not only is my account squeaky clean, but they can’t find any record of these calls in their IT systems.
I just dialed in again and spent some time trying to help one of the reps track down the source of the most recent call by number and exact time. No luck. And no way to make them stop, other than changing my phone number.
I’ll bet it’s not just me.
