Cyrus vs the $100 laptop
Monday, September 24th, 2007
My buddy (in the literal AIM sense) Cyrus Farivar delivers the blunt assessment someone needed to do that Nicholas Negroponte’s $100 laptop program has created a cool laptop with no buyers - certainly not the national governments that were supposed to line up to buy them in lots of one million at a time. Total production for this year will only be 125,000 units.
It makes my heart warm to see Cyrus, Harry McCracken and Nick Douglas rounding out Slate’s technology section, which was pretty much me for a while. I have another piece in the works for early October.
