The Wall Street Journal's first-ever use of the word "frigtard"

Can I gloat? Just for a second? My review yesterday of Dan Lyons's parody Steve jobs novel, Options, has drawn fan mail from other writers. But the book is far funnier than I could ever be. Advice: Buy it.

Woz as cool as they say

(click for full size)

Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak stopped by tonight's author appearance by Fake Steve Jobs writer Dan Lyons in Silicon Valley. It's true what they say about Woz - he's down to earth and loves to laugh at himself. Which is good, because Lyons really trowels it on in his Steve Jobs alter-ego. Thanks to San Francisco Apple tech Brendan McKenna -- available now to keep your Mac at its best -- for the iPhone photo.

Wired editor: "I've had it" with publicist spam

I feel Chris Anderson's pain. I'm a freelance writer, yet I get dozens of emails weekly from publicists who've decided that they're going to get into Wired by blasting their useless press release or pathetic, contrived story idea to everyone who's ever written for the magazine. It costs me time just to delete them. To be clear, none of these unsolicited, unwanted emails has ever turned into paying work for me. A professional publicist should know who the right people to contact are, rather than spamming. I'm not even on the Wired masthead these days, yet "Story idea for WIRED" keeps rolling in. I now have a killfile of over 300 addresses. Chris, thanks for validating me.
